Anyone here have a Robertson Wolfer yet?  If so what are your impressions?

Brock

I want one...but too many other things have taken priority.  If he is still making them this Summer might order one....someone I was talking to on here has one and absolutely loves it...but cant remember who it was. Sorry...

I have one and love it. It is a very compact bow with a smooth draw .Has a very solid feel to it and the grip fits me perfectly. Love the two piece take down system as well. And a work of art as are all of Dick's bows.

You may wish to PM 'McDave' here on Trad gang.

Dave would be a most reliable source.

Here is a picture of the takedown system on my Wolfer:

There are several unique features on this bow.  Perhaps the most interesting is the sideways curve in the limbs.  I have only seen this before in character self bows, for the purpose of following the grain.  I'm don't really understand the purpose well enough to explain it here, but Dick being the genius he is, I'm sure there is a good reason for it.  The connection system fits perfectly and seamlessly.

I'm really just getting to know this bow, but haven't found anything that makes me want to send it back.  In fact, it seems to be the ultimate pack bow, and I feel like if I had to leave civilization and could only take along one bow to feed myself with, this would probably be it.  (I'd probably starve, but it wouldn't be the bow's fault).

According to their website there are no custom orders and they are building them on a limited basis how they want, not you. I'm sure it's a great bow but at $1,500+ I'd at least like to pick the woods. No thanks...

McDave

At the time I placed my order, the policy described by md126 was in place.  Don't know if it still is or not.  I would imagine that after they complete the original orders, orders for this bow will be handled like any other one they sell, but I don't know that for a fact.

The other side of the story about paying for a bow without knowing how it's going to be built or exactly what it will cost is that you had the option of accepting or rejecting the bow at the time of completion, depending on whether you were satisfied with the bow and the final price.  I guess Dick felt that there were enough people who wanted the bow that he wasn't worried if the original purchaser would take it or not.  Frankly, it was kind of exciting for me to wait and see what Dick came up with, not knowing exactly how it would turn out.

That is a beautiful bow and a awesome take down system.
We have a bunch of Robertson bows here between me and my wife, recurves and longbows. Every bow is flawless in every way and not only shoot great but can stand up to alot of abuse. My main longbow has had the crap kicked out of it for 10 years and I plan to get another 10 years out of it before I have to hand it down to my son because I need a lighter weight one.
Can't say enough good thing s about their bows.
