Look at the precision of that sanding!  Fantastic photo.  That alone makes me want to try one.  That is some incredible detail work there.

Here's my new Christmas present to myself. A Toelke Whip, Cocobolo riser with spalted maple limb laminations over a bamboo core.

 
Rudderbows selfbow,1959 Herters recurve, Toelke Whip, and just added a Hoyt ProVantage warf conversion to the mix.
