When I want more shooting opportunities, I think squirrels, bunnies and stumps. Whole different kind of hunting, that any bow hunter can appreciate. What's more fun than shooting a rabbit on the run?

Joe Skipp....glad to hear I am not the only one the contemplates slinging arrows the the neighbors cat....that being said....

Deer hunting is my passion.  Be it hanging stands, trail cameras, scouting, sewing food plots, whatever, I LOVE it.  Hunting mature whitetail bucks is the ultimate hunt for me, that is what I live and prepare for year round.  I small game and turkey hunt because I love to be in the woods, and deer season is short.  It's also great practice for my preferred quarry.  Hunt because you want to and love it, if deer hubting is to much work, then stick to small game, but don't forget why we love this.  Do it because you love it, not because it's popular in the powwow.  One mans opinion.

I hear ya Mikey!!  Guess that's why dad was a big bunny hunter.  He especially loved to go after the snowshoes!!!!  I just love being out there with a stick and string, no matter what I'm after!!

I walk in and sit on the ground if I can't find anything else. I will shoot small game if given a chance and stump shoot out of the woods for lunch. Its all fun and if anyone has a problem with they are missing what its really all about.
I try not to let my mind wander...It is too small and fragile to be out by itself.

I have often said that if my back and knees were healthier, the only deer I would ever shoot were the ones that got between me the rabbits, pheasants, squirrels and turkeys.  The funny part is when my back was better and we only had one deer tag, that is exactly what I did. Then two weeks into the deer season and all I had to shoot at is rabbits, pheasants, squirels and turkeys, I missed deer hunting when the rut kicked in.

Mikey, I hear you man!

Some of my funnest hunts are for small game or fish.

Looking forward to seeing you all in Feb.

I have never done a lot of small game hunting but am planning to go after rabbits in early January. I have to admit to being pretty excited about it. Deer hunting was a bust this year. I only was able to go 3 times with no success.

One of the advantages of making your own basic cedar arrows and having a bucket of used broadheads is, when you go deer hunting you can shoot the same arrow at a deer and small game, and not feel like you need to meet with a financial planner when you smuck one up or shoot one into the weeds.

I love small game hunting. The feeling of anticipation as my beagle brings the rabbit back around is priceless.

If I had to choose only one type of hunting to do for the rest of my life it would be bunny hunting with dogs.

I love chasing small game especially in a target rich environment. Actually, As long as I'm chasing game... I'm Happy!

Its hard to beat a good small game day in the woods.

I never came close to working at a real job as hard as I do when I hunt and fish. Only job I've ever liked.

Agreed. Small game will always be where my heart lies in the woods. It's just too much fun.

I put alot of pressure on myself to fill my deer tags, so I know what this thread is about.  Small game just seems like a good walk in the woods hoping for a few shot opportunities.  I'm working on changing my attitude deer hunting but I really enjoy eating venison so that's what drives me.
