Any of you climber users switch to the xl traction belt? Do you climb bigger trees now?

bluemoonrising

I bought a set to hunt some big walnut trees. They worked well. Peace!

I've always had the XL belt on mine so I'm not sure if the trees I climb are bigger but one negative is I can't climb trees that the smaller belt can climb because the straps will only go into the stand to shorten so far.

so if you plan on climbing smaller trees guessing around 10" avoid the bigger straps.

Thanks Ted. I'll be using mine on the hand climber only as I use it with a Loggy base with a cable.Right now the base fits in bigger trees. The XL belt should even things out.

The majority of trees I climb and are available to climb where I hunt are small dia. I can't use a Summit stand on 90% of them..too small.

Also, I can't use my Lone Wolf Handclimber on the bigger size trees that I can the Summits.

What I used my LW many yrs ago hunting out of a lot of cypress trees in Fl. where they are really big at the bottom and taper smaller real fast, I got the XL belt for the bottom sectin and use regular size for top.

Around here on the small trees I swith the belts from top to bottom so I can run the large top belt all the way through one side rail channel and get it as small as needed. (Bottom section side rails have a bolt at the end and can't run it through) I'm hunting out of about a 8" dia tree this afternoon with it.

If you'll loosen, remove and reverse the bolts' direction on all 4 of the Lone Wolf's tubing (thread & nut out, bolt head in the tube) you can get the XL belt over the lower profile bolt head and through the tube with a little wiggle.  It will now work on smaller trees.
