The only heroes are the coyotes.

Coyotes found my first trad kill before I did...

That really bums me out... Nothing goes to waste
and I did recover my arrow... still in the deer.  The fletchings are chewed up some, but everything else is good to go.  Coyotes didn't leave me anything.... bones, hide, and feet!

I do thank the Good Lord for the opportunity and hope that He grants me more of them in the future!

Good luck to all and Merry Christmas!

Well, it happens I guess.  A few times to me also.  Good luck on your next opportunity.

I have killed over 50 deer with traditional equipment and lost my first deer too coyotes this year.

It's a bad feeling when you walked up and see fur scattered everywhere. In our small club of 27 traditional guys we have all lost at least one too coyotes.

It hasnt happened to me yet but I am sure its only a matter of time.

Bummer, to hear of your experience but hope the next one is better.

Very sorry to hear. I'm sure I will have my day..

its a bad deal, we found one a couple years ago that a buddy left over night, it looked like a feeding frenzy around where the deer was, the ground was clean of leaves in a 40 foot radius and hair and bones were everywhere the only thing left of the deer was a skull and spinal column....

You guys with the coyote problems should be setting stands over the gut piles and spend some quality time.

I had a friend that had Fox's tear one up overnight a few years back...When I saw it and walked up to the little doe I was amazed at how quickly a Fox could tear up a deer..Not but a few yotes been spotted this side of the Chesapeake Bay but there have been several spotted and 3 known kills that I'm aware of but I'm sure they are here...Many Fox's around my hunting area...

You guys are lucky. Here, when we loose an animal it is usually to a "kodiak golden retriever" and things  can get a bit exciting when you walk up to the kill sometimes.   :scared:

Still, sorry to hear of your loss.   :(

Congrats on your first!

Sorry the yotes got it first.

It happened to me the year before last. The yotes got a good part of that deer in unfder an hour and a half!

Sorry to hear your loss to the coyotes. I have not lost a wounded deer to them, but I have found the remains of several, including fawns, that they killed on my small place. I sure wish there was a way to seriously curtail the coyote population in this area. We probably all ought to become very serious predator hunters.

Sounds like a good job for Thumper Dunker! He..He!

My son lost one to yotes this year too. So far, I've been lucky. I tend to shoot my deer in the morning, so I find them before the yotes do.

Here in Texas the yotes run all day so it does not matter when you shoot a deer, track as fast as you can.  Found a nice pair of "rattlin' horns" from a 6 1/2-7 1/2 year old buck that the yotes found after somebody shoot it.  Nice main frame 8 with some serious mass.

Had that happen to my first archery kill too, but it was almost a whole cow elk they ate or spoiled. I ended up scavenging about forty pounds total off her and some of that was bone weight. So I know your pain.

Congrats on your first!
That sucks about the yotes. Been there a couple times myself (once this year) and it sucks.
Looking forward to hearing about your next one!

Thanks for the reassurance guys..... took a couple days 'off' to look for 'em and had no luck calling 'em in...  They must still be full! LOL.

Anyhow, we have 3 weeks left and Lord willing, I will have a another chance!

Thanks,
