Headed out right now. It's 14 degrees.    :scared:

I am hunting off the ground, I brushed in a nice little blind last week. I have an old Army surplus wool blanket rolled up to come along. Did this a few times before. Over my lap, under my boots, it will make a big difference.

awesome weather,,,, when its teens down to below temps I bring a wool blanket roll  and after about 3hrs I'll need to throw that over my shoulders or over my legs because a chill creeps thru somewhere when not moving.

I can't get out until early this afternoon, but the blanket is a great idea. I don't have a wool one, but I do have a camo fleece one someone made me many years ago that should work okay.

Thanks for the tip, supposed to be quite nippy all day.

Heading out soon!  My 4 year old son is coming along for the first time.  We'll be bundled up and inside a Barronett blind.  He may only last an hour or so, and we'll pack up if he gets too cold, but we're both excited for his first trip out hunting.  Of course, I was up late baking cookies per request.

The blanket is a good idea. My wool vest and cargo pants keep me toasty.
Good luck

Blankets are awesome when hunting.  Good luck.  We have 2 more days of gun here...then I will wait a week or so before heading out.

I still have a MI archery tag so I should've thought about heading up there.

also a blanket with a slit cut in the middle becomes a poncho then just tie a rope or belt around the waist part for shooting.

Well that's plenty cold for this southern boy.  It was 34 with a wind chill of 16 today and I was on the edge of being uncomfortable

You are a better man than me Roger.  I went out to my place at first light this morning and at -5 I just could not sit in the tree stand long enough to have a chance.  Maybe next time.

No way could I sit in a tree in the cold. Reason #327 I'm liking the ground more and more....it's warmer...   :bigsmyl:
