I have a Summit Viper. It has the straps for your feet. I see the new models have the plastic hook type for your feet. How do they work and are they as easy as they claim to use. Im thinking about getting some to upgrade my Viper. Thanks in advance.

Ive got a summit open shot with the stirrups. They work good for climbing but they get in my way a little when hunting.

I added them to an older Summit I have.   Best investment I made in a long time.   Makes sure footed climbing and descending a breeze.   Hope this helps you.

I love them just put foot in front of bungy cord and pull back on foot and insert feet in stirrups.  Feet won't come out and simple and they adjust on bottom of platform with just a wingnut.

I have a strap like you and my dad has the stirrups. I hate borrowing his stand becouse of them!  I  wear cowboy boots evey day, and have a pair for hunting. They seem to be way to loose I the stirrup with that system so I have to wear hiking boots when I use his stand.

Get 'em,  you won't be sorry, they're awesome !

I took the stirrups off my Openshot...(and if I ever get around to it will cut those spring things off that catch the cables..I hate those things..  especially when my fingers are numb from cold)and don't use the straps on any of my climbers. Just hook my feet under the rails.

I really like the stirrups, handy as heck compared to the straps.

You will regret cutting those safety springs off when the cable pops out when you are climbing and left hanging from the seat with a platform stuck to your feet but not attached to the tree!!! Happened to me once with the old style swing latch they used to use. Presumably they replaced it with the spring for that very reason.

Yep, stirrups are the way to go.

Never had the stirrups get in the way. Highly recommend

I have stirrups on my viper and they do get in the way hunting. You have to becareful how you poistion your feet if you like to stand close to the tree. I have also had my boots get stuck in them while climbing, but I still like them. You just have to be careful.

I would go with the stirrups too.

Very easy to use. No more bending over to get you feet in the straps

Thanks for the warning..I don't get all that high up anymore.

I have had my Summit Viper since 2003.  When the stirrups came out I got them the 2nd year offered and they are much easier for me to go up and down.  No bending over to get my feet in the bungees anymore.

I put them on my older Summit. I'm 6'3" and used to be pretty fat. It was a pain to bend over and hook the straps.

I could see were they might not benefit a man with small feet. I prefer them myself.

I have the older summit with those old straps also.  I bought the new ones this year and it was a good use of $25.  You will be glad you made the switch.

Installed them on all 3 of my Summit climbers! I love them and have never got in the way.
