I apologize if I missed it, but is the swap hunt forum gone?  Can't find it?  Thanks, Sam

Geez...I hope not.
It's a great way to meet good tradgangers and hunt inexpensively.
I like to travel and hunt.
Maybe they are just fixing something???

I conducted a trade a hunt 6 years ago with some guys from texas.  to date I have been down there 4 times, they have come up here 5, they are now some of my best friends and hunting partners.

I'd hate to see it gone, never traded a hunt but always hoped someday I would

Yeah, it was a great way to do hunts that otherwise you may not be able to.  I have been on several swap hunts and never had a bad experience.  I might not have always killed an animal, but always met great friends and had a great time.  Maybe Terry or Rob can chime in?

I used to go to that forum and just day dream...lol

It also appears that the How To forum is a gone as well. The How To forum was very beneficial to everyone on Tradgang. I may have just overlooked the forum in my search,so if anyone of you knows where I can find it please let me know.

How to- Resources is still there in the topic archives section just a little above the state forums. The swap hunt has been gone for a while, every since the classified changes happened I think.

Guys....no need to panic...that forum was hardly used...we leaned up the site a while back for several reasons....no reason you can't trade a hunt right here on the PowWow....don't need a special forum just for that.

No worries.

Thanks Terry, just glad that it's ok to post swap hunts on the Pow Wow.  Thanks!

Be sure to check your states regulations.  In Montana you are not allowed to receive payment in any form for taking somebody hunting without a guides license; receiving a hunt is considered payment.  I know a guy who traded a MT mountain lion hunt for a whitetail hunt in the mid west and lost his hunting and fishing privileges for not being a licensed guide.

He had some really fine hounds too.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

thanks for the heads up Walt..   so then don't anybody say nothing when it happens just keep it private between new friends,,,, enough is enough with these stupid regulations.

Wow...losing your hunting priveleges for inviting a friend over to hunt?

Sounds a bit extreme.

Calling it a simple invite rather than an exchange might be a way to prevent that happening.

Trading hunts with other good tradgangers is a great way to meet nice folks, make good friends, see some new country.

Doesn't put me in mind of any kind of criminal activity, but maybe some states are more strict???

I'll be inquiring of some warden friends of mine.

I love to gator hunt...anyone else love to hunt something different...?

Walt Francis

Yea, it is bad in some ways.

I was going to donate a mountain lion hunt to the PBS at Pittsburgh but found out it was illegal unless I had a guides license; donated a selfbow instead.  One of my friends manages a ranch and they donate a elk hunt to a local youth and auction off another one for charity (the youth center I think). He was advised it was breaking the law by fish & game..... but none of the game wardens would try to prosecute as there would be very little chance of a conviction.

However, it helps prevent illegal outfitting, which was a super big problem in Montana, now it is only a really big problem.
