Bama boy once asked me, "Yankee, ya ever been in a grits grove?" I kinda had to look at him a tad odd, thinking he was a bit nuts...but then figured he thought I didn't know grits...

"Sure,"says I, "Been in a ton of corn fields all my life!" Grits grove!  "[dntthnk]"

But I do like grits...best w/ red eye gravey but I have to try the cheeze grits, Tarz...

No Terry, the major foodgroups are;

Meat,
Chocolate,
Waffles, (you've got that one right!)
Coffee
& more chocolate.

I thought everyone knew that!  :D  :D

Anything else is just being fancy-shmancy!

What the heck are 'matter & nanaer' anyway?

Here in the north we call them potatoes and bananas.  Either one or both are far better than grits.  And being a cheesehead and all, I think it sounds like a crime to mix good quality sharp cheeder with wallpaper paste and sand!  :p

Tell you what Terry, Texas Sweat '08. You make me some cheesy grits, I'll make you some toast with Marmite. Sort of an 'International Breakfast grudge-match!'  :D

Whip,
You have to be a "damn yankee" not to know that a "matter" is a Tomatoe not a POTATOE. Danged ole cheeseheads anyway, don't you have a Packers game to go watch. :)  Ain't that right Terry?

Good grief, doesn't anyone eat doughnuts anymore?     :wavey:

Grits, nanners, banners, hammers....whatever. A friendly word of advice though: I once had a boss from Australia who decided to offer me some vegemite. Not wanting to be rude, I accepted. Most horrific thing I ever took a single bite of in my life. I swear I thought I was going to have to sand blast the inside of my mouth to get the taste out. I'd rather eat the butt out of a bloated road killed skunk than get within 10 feet of that stuff again.

I'm now convinced that boss actually hated me.   "[dntthnk]"

Personally I like my grits with butter, cream and sugar.  My Grandma from NC taught me to eat them that way.  I do like the red eye gravy or bacon type too.  I prefer my cheese in my buttermilk buiscits.

Finally . . . the Great Gray Grocery Gobbler emerges in the deep south. Might have known he wouldn't be far from Miss Kim's famous Cookies and the fabulous Coots hospitality.
Hang in there Vance, you might even get a chance to do some hunting in between meals and snacks!
