What is the best way to keep Grizzly broadheads from rusting?  I bought a new pack this year for one elk hunt and to use during the deer season. It seems the smallest amount of moisture and the cutting edge of them rust like crazy.

A lot of guys put a real light film of vaseline on their heads

I wipe my steel broadheads down with veg oil before I load them in the quiver.  Keeps the rust away.

Any time you use carbon steel (broadheads, knives, etc.) you have to work to keep rust away.

I've used chapstick, vaseline and Bore Butter (for muzzleloaders) at different times and they all worked well.  A

After trying a couple of the other suggestions I went to RIG (Rust Inhibiting Grease) this year with much better success.  It appears to adhere and protect much better than anything else I have tried.

Also, if rust has already formed, be sure to buff it off with fine steel wool before you grease them.

Mine have been in my quiver since September.
No coating of any kind. No rust of any kind.
They have been rained on, snowed on, A few tears in there probably(don't ask) No rust and I have not touched em!
I did dip the one in some deer blood/tallow  :) . It seems fine, even sharp enough to hunt with.
Good heads. Can't wait to try the 3 blade.

A little olive oil. It helps prep the meat for cooking as well   ;)   , and it's good for you! Not so much for the deer.   :nono:

I use chapstick, too. On both my broadheads and my knives. Any carbon steel will rust.

Light coat of Vaseline with q-tip. I tried a light coat of string wax one time and found it to have the effect of dulling the edge.

I use a Sharpie to color the edges and don't have any problems with rust.  The ink doesn't rub/wear off like Vaseline or oil.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Thanks for all the tips guys! I am going to try the sharpie for my next elk hunt.  Grizzly broadheads have always performed well for me.

Any steel broadhead can rust. Any of the above advice will work very well.
