Have any of you attended a traditional archery shooting school that you would recommend? I shoot longbows.

Thanks,
Rob

I have been to the Rod Jenkins clinic and would reccomend it to anyone looking to improve their shooting!

Moots get ahold of Britt there is a Rod Jenkins clinic in Greeley early in 2014. Last I knew there were a couple openings left

Moots

Thanks Cory.  I sent an email to Britt.

Any other archery school suggestions?

Thank you,
Rob

I'd recommend Rod or Bob Wesley of Whispering Pines in NC. I attended their schools and got good information and coaching from both.

Cant' beat Rod Jenkins class.  You better go with an open mind though.  Its amazing how married we are to our bad habits and things we learned incorrectly

I went to Bob Wesley this year and when I got back I had 2 bowyers say that they could teach me more and both did. Your source for learning should be open to many improvements. Each teacher has his way and you will pick up a few things from each I think. It also helps to rehash your form with different people watching you. I know each has helped me correct little details.

If you go see Rod your only regret will be that you had not done it sooner....best of luck.

Another vote from me for Rod. Learned a lot and became a better archer from his clinic. I'll put on one here if I can next year.

I can't say enough good things about Rod Jenkins.  I went to his clinic last March with an open mind and a willingness to learn, and I can tell you for sure that it has paid off.  Good luck.

p.s. big fan of Moots... have a Vamoots.

I just signed up for a G. Fred Asbell class, I'll let ya know if he's able to help a knucklehead like myself.   :knothead:     :biglaugh:

Another vote for Rod, I've had him down to my place 3 or 4 times now for clinics and in addition to a whole bunch of folks greatly improving, I pick up something new each and every time!

He rarely does clinics any longer, Olympic archer coach and avid recurve/LB hunter, Tim Strickland would be my choice if I wanted help.

By the way, most of these fellows know each other pretty well.  You'll hear interesting reports about their methods from their "competition".

The one huge RED FLAG for me if I were considering a coach would be to know whether or not he/she has on-going Target Panic. Believe it or not, some who teach, do.  Past tense is ok but on-going is not. Correcting and preventing TP  must be among the instructor's ability.

Thanks!

I just signed up for a Rod Jenkin's class scheduled for Greeley, CO on Feb. 6-7th.  If it fills, the class will go forward.  Three spots left, I think.

This will be a great start for me if it works out.

Yes Nittany Rider, I have a Vamoots as well.

I need to find a class this summer. Hope one is within driving distance.

Jeff, check out Rick Welch's class in Little Rock.  It might be within driving distance, depending on which side of Texas you live on. Heck, even most of Texas isn't in driving distance if you live in El Paso!  I really learned a lot from Rick's class, and would recommend it to anybody.
