Great story as always and this really caught my attention...

"I could hear leaves falling and a woodpecker hammering. I need to learn to listen more. "  

Just started doing this this year: While sitting in stand I would say to myself " What do you see, what to you smell, what do you hear" about once an hour.   I was always fairly observant, but this new deal "really opened my eyes" so to speak to so much more.

The explicit effort to focus on the added senses was great.
