One of my favorite spots at ShrewHaven is in planted pines. Awesome spot. I find when the acorns are thick, it's actually easier to hunt the pines. With acorns everywhere, I have deer coming in from all points of the compass....very random. The pines put them back on predictable trails. Like any spot, watch the wind. I don't know if pines affect a steady breeze, but if it is slightly changing, they do create some swirling.

Deer move quietly in the pines, but so can you. I LOVE hunting the pines, but not the super mature ones. The spot I'm thinking about, only a few of the trees will hold a treestand. Be prepared to hunt off the ground. Also....like anywhere, look for the edges....pines butting up to hardwoods, pines, that have a small clearing in the middle, and especially pines butting up to thick brush....all hot spots.
