Went out last sat got to my stand a little late. While nocking my arrow I jumped a big doe. I thought my day was done. Then a little buck came from upwind  of me and did a uturn. At that point I thought for sure that something was up with my setup. Like maybe I am more silhouetted now that most of the oak leaves are down. Then this 10pt comes trotting up from downwind of me without a care in the world. All I can guess is that he was following that previous big does trail and had his mind set on her and nothing else. He finally got within 15 on a quartering in shot when I let one loose. It hit high and behind the vitals and my razor sharp woodsman only went about half way in. My string tracer took out about 100yds then stopped. I thought for sure it broke off and I had no chance. Then... it started slowly taking line like a slip rigged walleye. About 50 more yards trickled out of the spool until it finally inched to a stop. That is always a good sign when using a tracer. I knew the string was not broke and he was down. I gave it about 45 min and crept up to him, found my broken arrow half way. Behind the diaphram was a mess. The entry was sqaure on the biggest rib that was wider than the BH. Must have really slowed it down to only get that little penetration.  My guess is that that woodsman stirred up his liver pretty good on his run. Not the best shot by any means but I'll take it.

I just want to thank everyone on this site for all the good advice I have read over the years. This was a great hunt so I thought I'd share it.  [/IMG]
