Well year #2 of being a trad bowhunter is in the books.  It was a good year.  I shot a nice doe early in the season but no buck for me.  My wife did get a 6pt with her compound.  We saw more deer early in the season compared to the rut.  All in all, I am very happy with my season and there was not one time where I felt "under gunned" not having my compound.  I think I am going to give it away to a buddy.  Now to buy a few strings for a few bows, fletch some arrows, buy a new arm guard and ice fish.  I plan on using my longbow next season while the recurve relaxes for a year.

Sounds like you had a great year. Do not forget about late season. With the weather we have had there may be some great hunting ahead.

Congrats Matt!  I've still got 2 months & 6 doe tags left until the end of my year 2, but I've got to say that It has been quite a memorable year.  I've decided to finish the season using my 70s era Browning Nomad Stalker.

I still have a buck tag and my wife has a doe tag so we could go late season.  The big problem is the ice will be on the lakes soon and we love to ice fish.

Congratulations on a successful season. Now, what kind of trad bow are you going to get your wife? After all, it will just be a matter of time.

I would like to get her shooting a trad bow.  I don't know if it will happen or not.  I know that I enjoy shooting more now than ever.  Shooting a recurve for the past 2 years has been great.  I shoot more now than ever.  I just put the bag target down stairs so I can shoot every day after work.  I just shot 10 shots.

Congrats Matt,
If you're not ice fishing you and your wife might think about coming the Wisconsin Traditional Archers banquet Feb. 15th at the Marriott in Middleton. Lot of stuff to get her excited about traditional. Info at
