The hedge, or osage orange wood is some of the best firewood you can burn. Close relative to mulberry. REALLY tough to cut, nearly impossible once dried.
...because bow hunting always involves the same essentials. One hunter. One arrow. One animal. -Don Thomas

Thanks every one.
Jag if you wanna box of em drop me a PM and ill get you some when I get back in town and mail em out.
MUDD Unfortunatly I'm not home for good yet, a couple more weeks yet. Being the only Veteran at the company , but being made to work on Veterans Day while the others got off aggravated me enough to call it in and just drive home.
Ill gladly take my butt chewing tomorow with a smile on my face

Man I miss seeing those hedgeapples all over the farm!  They make great archery targets, especially when rolling along the ground like a rabbit.  Lots of fun!  Looks like you had a day to remember for sure.

Good seeing you out with the kids! We called those fruits horse apples also. We would be on the stand and could hear something and look around and see the horses eating those things. It brings back good memories.

Wow!! It looks like your kids really enjoy being out in the IL woods! Seeing your pics of the cut corn and Osage trees (or "hedge trees" from my neck of IL) really made me miss our family farm down my Murphysboro. Thanks for posting.

This may be some of the best hunting you have ever done. The memories of this outing make a finer trophy than a P&Y buck ever could. I will sure be glad when my grandson is old enough to go hunting with me.
