Just back from 10 days of hunting in Kansas.  Had a great time and saw a lot of deer including some real monsters.  As I suspected we were about a week too early but that's how our schedule worked out. The big boys really started showing up the last couple of days we were there.

I won't type out the full story but will share a couple of pics of the hunt.

The Buck

I watched this buck get in an all out brawl with a heavy horned, short tined 8pt on the first morning of the hunt.  The fight was within 25 yds of my stand and both deer came by within 15 yds but with 10 days to hunt I decided to hold out for something bigger.  Besides, I wasn't ready to end my hunt just yet.

When the same buck chased a doe out of the willow thicket behind me and came by at 20yds on the last morning of my hunt I decided to take him.  I had gotten to hunt the full week and still had a chance at a deer I would be happy with. So I guess you could say I got my cake and ate it too!
