Saturday is opening day of muzzloader, and we have several decent eight points on our property. I would normally be chomping at the bits to get a firearm in my hands! But for some reason I have this problem with my hand now, and it won't lay my bow down!   :archer2:   so I guess to my disbelief , I am going to bow hunt Saturday! This is crazy! Recurve fever is worse then buck fever

You can hop but you can't hide.
If it was not for rabbits I would never get a buck.

I Understand. This year makes 23 since I gun hunted.  :archer2:

It sure gets into your blood. Only cure is repeated doses of cedar launched from a Flemish string.

I feel your pain, it's been 10 years since I hunted with a gun.

I go gun hunting on opening day most years.  I very often don't even load the gun, just go to say I did.

I like bow hunting.  For nearly everything.

Traded in my old cva as part of an exchange program got a brand new one for free.....maybe I'll find out how it shoots one day. Already told my son he can have it when he's old enough. He only hunts small game now but he's already told me he prefers his long bow for that. :)

17 years of bow only for me, so I understand how you feel.

Once you pick up a bow gun hunting loses all it's luster. I have zero desire to ever gun hunt big game ever again. Love traditional archery!

i love my trad archery hunting and always prefer it but my wife and i depend on the meat i harvest so sometimes i do have to break out the smoke pole...but only when necessary  ;)  otherwise its all bow for me too  ;)

Boy I'm glad to hear others are like me. I have not gun hunted deer for a long time. Heck I just started hunting from a tree stand again. There's just something about sneaking up on a deer to get into bow range especially with a bow that I have made myself.

Same thoughts here!

If I want meat I take the gun.  It is not fun but it is ten times more effective.  Very little pleasure is derived from using a gun to harvest an animal.

There is a special magic that happens when I step in the field with a bow in hand.  I've come to crave that feeling as much or more than the feeling that I used to get from bird hunting behind good dogs.  All in it's own time, I suppose.

Thats exacly how I have done it the last six years, I bow hunt all season untill right at the end, when we have doe days in december. Kill two or three with the rifle on one sat, then put the gun back in the closet. Where I hunt I can see 20-30 deer a day when rifle hunting, becouse I can see over 1000yards worth of fields from my stand. Geting them in the woods , withing 15 yards is a whole nother chalange , and thats what I like!

It's been close to 25 years for me without the gun. I only hunted with the gun for two years and never really enjoyed it. Picked up the longbow and never looked back.
