Hello TradGangers! I converted from a wheelie bow 3 years ago and have been unsuccessful the first 2 seasons. Well, things changed this past Friday.

Here's a little background info to start. I very fortunate to hunt in North Central PA on mostly private ground and some State game land which borders the property. There is more activity in this area than anywhere else I've ever hunted. Deer are just everywhere. I normally roam around this area until I find a nice spot to sit in ambush. I've had several doe in close but passed on. I've watched a few nice buck from afar with no chance to stalk them.

So Friday I went to their bedroom and found a nice stump facing down an old logging road. This particular road leads out to a large alfalfa field that always holds deer. Perfect! I cleared some brush out of the way and sat down. The wind was blowing constant in my favor. I nocked my number 1 arrow and waited.

I sat and watched a black squirrel play. This went on for about 30 minutes. Then I caught some movement in the beech brush 15 yards in front of me. Here comes a buck! My heart started racing immediately as he stepped into the opening. He looked straight at me and I thought I was busted for sure. Thankfully he didn't care and actually started my way. He is now at 8 paces and looking away. I draw and anchor at the same time he turns broadside. I picked my spot and watched in slow motion as the cedar finds that crease behind his shoulder at heart level. He took off and snapped the arrow against a tree. Then loud crashing followed by silence. He was down!

I waited about 20 minutes, then started in to trail. Found a few drops of blood here and there, but not as much as I would have expected. Then lots appeared where he snapped the arrow. Good blood. I follow the trail for about 40 more yards and there he is. A flood of emotions came on and I gave thanks to the Creator for providing this moment. I thanked my late father for instilling in me the spirit to hunt.

I would also like to thank Jim Gainey for making such a sweet shooting Black Creek Siren.

I'll post pics as soon as I figure out how...
