First of all I don't want to get into the actually shooting dynamics of clickers and TP. I would like this to be more of a Pow wow type post.

After a couple years of an emotional roller coaster I am finally free of my clicker, my shooting is good, and I'm in control of my shot.

I just want the guys that are going through shooting problems to know that hard work, patience, and seeking out the right help can give you your life back.

I don't have anything against clickers but for me it just never felt right on my bow and I looked at it as an added failure point. I like to hunt on my terms and TP almost caused me to give up more than once. At one point I was pricing all kinds of wheeled contraptions and telling myself a full freezer will make me happy. Truth is being in the woods with my trad bow is what makes me happy.

Congratulations! I have a clicker installed and feeling more confident every day with my shooting. Matter of fact its kind of scary to have my arrows hitting the  bulls-eye consistently versus what I struggled through this year in regards to TP. I just want to make sure I kicked the TP before the clicker gets removed. I think with repetition and a good shot sequence we feel more confident in our shooting...to the point where the clicker can be removed.

Mostly Joel Turners instruction. What helped the most was realizing I have the ability to let down. If the shot doesn't feel perfect in concentration and form I let down.

Congrats on getting control of your shot!  Hope you keep the gremlin locked away.  Are you going to use any type of trigger?  I use feather to nose and hadn't thought of not using a trigger in the future.  I tried a clicker once but the cord kept getting hung up on brush while hunting so I took it off.

I also worked with Joel. His method worked for me after trying everything in the book. He took the time to work with me to get things right and really cares about curing TP.

Rob - Isn't letting down and not taking the shot refreshing versus not following through the entire shot sequence and making a poor shot?

It is amazing how it works. I am getting so much better but not getting rid of clicker just yet. Still hard for me when other people are around. Very strange but it just is.

Jax, thanks for the encouragement! Actually TP never left. It will always be there I have just finally figured out how to keep it at bay.

I'm glad you noted that you can keep it at bay. You absolutely can!  I had it increasingly bad starting in the early 80's and culminating in 1995. I've had it completely at bay since then.

Knowing what causes it is key to prevention and cure.
