Is anyone shooting/shot a mahaska flat bow or long bow? How do handle and how well do they shoot? I'm in the market for a custom bow, about had my mind made up and then came acroosed these beauties! Pics would be greatly appreciated!!

I don't see how you could go wrong with one.  Very nicely made and great value.  I owned one of the recurves and it was a great bow.  His southwestern cedar veneers are gorgeous, that would be my pick.  Kent builds a fine bow.  I'll try and dig for some pics of my recurve.  The longbows have got to be good.

I had a 62" 55# @ 28" Mahaska longbow. Kent builds a fine bow, but as far as I know they are still not warranted for anything but B50 dacron. Mine had a fair amount of hand shock until I built a 10 strand D97 Flemish string with loops padded to 16 with B50. The hand shock disappeared and the bow performed better than ever. Mine was well beyond any kind of warranty anyway, so I didn't worry about that. I'd probably still have it if my old shoulders could tolerate the 55# draw. These days I have to stay 50# and under. Quality of Kent's bows is as good as any I have seen or owned.

I own a Mahaska Recurve, cocobolo and southwest cedar and its a beauty, its actually my favorite bow too shoot. and has taken game just as well if not better than my higher end bows,they are just great hunting bows and mine really shoots an arrow. all in all ive been 100 percent satisfied with mine. Kent is a very great guy to talk with and he will make sure you get what you want.

Wow great info this is gonna be a tough decision.

I have had a couple of longbows......they shot well, silent with no real hand shock. I would buy another.

Concerning the fast flight string. Kent advised me that he will build a bow fast flight compatible if that is what a customer wanted. He just thinks Dacron is quieter and he likes the way a bow shoots with Dacron.

I have a 64 inch, 58 pound Mahaska long bow and it is sweet. I am mostly a recurve shooter but I love this long bow. Shoots a range of shafts really well and has great cast. Craftsmanship is excellent and the bow itself is a beauty...dont know how to post the proper size photos on here. Mine is cocobolo riser with southwestern juniper face and belly. Beautiful. Reasonably priced and delivered in good time. I would buy another...this time  maybe a recurve to match the longbow. Bottom line, it shoots well and is quiet.

I guess I'm going to be the odd one here. I tried out a Mahaska at ETAR a few years ago when I was searching for a 50's style recurve, and was not real impressed with the speed or feel of the shot. JMO.

Maybe so, but for the money Kent delivers a great bow.  You might find something slightly more refined and certainly not anymore beautiful, but you'll be paying $200+ dollars more.
