Well I managed to hang to my stand last night and the storms kinda split around me.  Thunder and lighting off to the west, and huge cloud forms to the east.  Waiting for the buck to show and freshen his scrape when down the trail came 2 does.  I figured they were the same two I saw a few nights ago, no fawns with either- so they became fair game.  The lead doe abled past and the second turned to pass under my stand at about 8 yards.  I waited for her to clear into a small opening in the beech branches of my tree.  She hopped into the spot and I came to full draw, tried to pick my spot and released.  When the arrow flashed and ticked a branch kicking it to left.....it buried into her right hip.  She took a quick bound, heading into the swamp.  When she turned to head more to the right, I could she blood dumping from the entrance.  She went 60 yards expired.  I waited a few minutes, got down and retrieved my arrow.  It had blood about 1/2 way up the shaft.  The trail was short-and easy.  The snuffer ss had clipped the femoral artery and the kill was very quick.  Not real pleased I hit the branch, and also was questioning my focus point, almost feel like I didn't pick my spot and focus long enough.  But I may just be second guessing myself as well.  I am shooting a Bob Lee Hunter 54@28", beman 400 classics and snuffer ss 100 grain heads.  Not the buck I was hoping for, but my girls basketball team practice starts next week and goes 5 days a week until season ends.  I figured I better not pass up any good opportunities.

Congratulations! I had the same thing happen on a buck last year. He took off after a doe right at my shot and I hit him just as you describe. Obviously do not recommend the shot but that deer went down fast.

Stay sharp, Kenny.

No worries. You've obviously thought this through since then, and you know what to do next time. You're fine, and it all worked out for the best! Nice doe BTW!

Man, I can't get over the size of those northern deer!  They make these down here look like small dogs.

Way to go!

Did you know that the recovery rate for arrow hit deer is the same for boiler room chest hits and the ham shot? 80%

Its real hard to see small limbs when you are focused on the spot. Also the arrow does not follow your exact line of sight.

Nice deer and good hunting!

Congratulations. Fine looking deer.

Don`t give up hope for a buck! Squeeze in a hunt when you can. I think the rut is gonna be a tad early this year in spite of the summer like temps.
