I went on the big auction site and took a chance on a Redwing Hunter 49# Head Ski Co.. It was labled blemished and covered in camo tape. I picked it up for 65 bucks shipping and all. I was looking for a project bow. I peeled the tape off and scrubbed it down with acetone (Thanks Doc) it was pretty gummed up. The darn thing is in excellent shape. I can't find the blemish. No stress cracks in the glass or anything. I'm going to sand it down with 2000 grit and spray it with polurethane just to take out the scratches and cover part of the handle wear the finish is rubbed out from use. I'm far from home down here working in Tx. I think I'll take it to the local archery shop in Santa Fe and let them tune it up since I have no tools here. I lucked out, I'm a happy camper. They'll let me set up a target and shoot in the back of this campground. I get to practice while away. These are supposed to be pretty good bows. I'll have to look up some more information on it.

Sounds like a great find. Congratulations.

I'm wondering how someone would get a bow marked blemished where the serial # would be. I reckon they just sold them at reduced prices or gave them to factory workers? I can't find the blemish, other than some scratches from use?

Poished it with rubbing compound, looks great. I think thats as far as I'm going other than furniture polish. I found the blemish when I took it in the sunlight. Very small crack in front of the bow vertically from the inside corner of the arrow shelf. Looks to have been repaired from under the arrow rest. Shouldn't affect anything.I'm still stoked. Can't wait to get it set up and try it.

Put the old string on it and shot it a few times just to try it out. Shoots sweet and hits hard. Can't wait to get it tuned I think I picked up a shooter. Bit noisy but I think once it's tuned and I get some proper arrows for it, that will quiet it down.
