I am shooting a 50lb super kodiak, and i have a 26 inch draw. I am thinking about buying some new arrows, and want to increase the GPI when I do. I am shooting center shots now, and have about 530 grains. I am wanting to shoot somewere between 700-800 grains total. Any setup advice? I was looking at an easton FMJ 300, at 30.5 inches, with a 300grain eclips, and 5 inch feathers. I am just leaning about seting up arrows insead off the bow, since I got rid of my traning wheels, Im not picking one back up either, i need to learn how to properly tune this thing.

@ 26" your probably drawing about 44lbs. Shooting a 530 grain arrow puts you a hair over 12 GPP. That is plenty! I think you may want to do some more searching around before going with such a heavy arrow of 700-800.

Yep.  And your 300 spine carbons are quite stiff.  26" draw and 44lbs you're looking at .600 spine most likely.  Good luck!

Ot of my 47il palmer I shoot heritage 150's with a 50gr insert and 200gr phantoms up front. They come in at 525 grains and i've killed a few deer and hogs with this setup.

I would tend to agree with whats been said ... 800 grains is going to basicaly mean your arrow is dropping like a rock after 20yards max. I think that may be overkill.

I'f you're tuned wil with what you've got I wouldn;t worry.

I shoot 43# @ 25", with 500gr ... and it'll bury a magnus pretty deeply into trees etc. haven;t shot a deer yet with one but I have no doubt it's sufficient and I can still hit a target to 30-35yds

I shoot 46# limbs with 476gr Gamegetter 500's....works perfectly

You can get to a point where an arrow starts to have diminishing returns.You are at close to 12 GPP now as stated,sounds about perfect to me.I bet at even 20 yds a 800 gr. arrow will have quite a trajectory.I like to keep my arrows in the 9-11 GPP range.Why do you want such a heavy arrow?

I've shot several bows in tht poundage with the same draw length as you.  I've also wasted lots if money on arrows that were way to heavy and spined to stiff( this was before I knew about trad gang or had the Internet). I've found that a 600 spine did the best but I have gotten a select few 500 spines to tune and fly well.  Best of luck!
