Last night I was checking some  residential deer "viewing areas areas" in the guise of patrolling, you cant hunt them there because you cant get 500 feet from a house, school or commercial building.Anyway I saw a large doe eating the leaves off the type of bamboo that is common here in NY.She had 3 year and a half year old daughters with her that paid no attention to the leaves but she was tearing it up!The leaves are still pretty green on it.I have never seen that or heard of deer eating it.I dont know if its a non native plant or not but its pretty abundant here.Anyone else ever seen them eat that?

If I know the kind your talking about, it's even edible for humans at the right time of year. Heck, I love the taste of the bamboo stalks (never tried the leaves though). So if it tastes good to people, I'm betting deer like it too...
