It's always better to have and not need it than need it and not have it.  :goldtooth:

Thats my story and I am sticking to it.  ;)
Atleast thats what I tell the wife.

You really haven't hunted the old fashion way until you've done it from one of these Indian houses.(The Tipi) "Glenn ST. Charles"

I thought it was only me..... My wife says "Looks like you are packing for the second invasion of Normandy!" ... But we know that our "stuff" will feel bad if we leave it behind. Maybe we just like to show it off to the people we will meet at hunting camp. Whatever.

Vance, Good luck on your hunt!  I am sure when you get about half way there you will remember somthing that you forgot to pack.  It always happens to me.

Barney

Heck Vance, try fitting almost all that into a set of bear proof panniers.   :knothead:

OH Barney..Lots less goes with me when hunting near "The King's Forrest"

Even here I can't feed my dogs outside and all my grains are in steel in the Tack Shed. "The Kings Forrest" keeps gettin BIGGER N BIGGER  :help:

Packing tonight for a 2 day camp-out hunt in Madison, VA...pack inventory is more Ferret-like: 1 bow, 4 broadheads, 2 Hex-tipped arrows, couple of knives, clothes, tipi/stove, etc., etc.  Still seems like a lotta stuff...Oh yeah, I'm splurging...takin' two different quivers

ChuckC

Mickey.  where in WI are you headed ?
ChuckC

the Ferret

Good luck in Madison, paradocs. I have a friend down there. Pretty country, lots of deer!!

Ferret, three days, six pair o'sox! You prolly think I am about to razz you, but that sounds conservative, especially for Wisconsin.

Rusty,
You're not far off, I know from experience.  Though unless you plan on wearing the same clothes the entire trip you might want to bring some clothes, you might be just a litle a little smaller then Vance.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Just ask Vance to find the safety pins.  :)

I think its been a bit wet up that way lately, but not too awful cold.  We are losing leaves in Madison (south) already, although some, including the choke cherries haven't even turned yet.  There are geese and Sandhill Cranes all over the place in Mid Wisconsin, making tons of noise every evening.  Woodcock are down and I have heard tell that the Ruffed Grouse populations are building back up after a down spell.  It should be a great time up there. Please yell if you see a lot of snowshoe hares. Good luck

Got in here late (as usual) but, Robtattoo nailed it on his first post.

Ferret, you may not even need all of that this year.lol  Btw  while your out there chase some of the deer about 225 miles due east.(towards the U.P.) ;)
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Goodbye Shiner you were always a good dog.
