Talked to Mike Abbot a couple weeks ago and he said he made his longbows as short as 58". Was wondering if anyone has shot one and how they might feel at a 29" draw.

SuperKodiak38

Ive got a 66" that is real nice. WOuld be interested in some info on this too.

A friend of mine had a 60" Abbott. Not a bad pulling bow for mild reflex/deflex in such a short bow, but I could definitely feel the bow stiffening up at my 28" draw....At your 29" draw, I'd go with a 66" or longer...I've got a 66" Abbott and it pulls real smooth at my draw length....JMHO...

Tom you should let Jim and Mickey shoot that LOOOONNGGG 54" Treadway of yours.

Ask your self this question.  What would be smoother a 58 inch Abbot longbow or a 60 inch Abbot longbow?

Once you have the answer to that question you don't have to ask SuperKodak38 if his 66 incher is smoother than a 62 or 64.

Length isn't necessarily a caveat for smoothness. Design, materials and workmanship figure into the equation. Presently I have bows up to 64" but the smoothest drawing and shooting bow of the bunch is a 50" Risen Son r/d "shortbow"

non-typical,

Your not comparing apples to apples.  The question is what's smoother your 50" Risen Son or a 64" Risen Son?  Remember we're talking Abbot longbows,so I assume they have the same materials and design.

Steve Smith had or has a 52" Abbott. I think it was the only one made. It shoots well but isn't for long draw archers.
