I'm pretty good at starting fires with not much to work with, but I did like the cotton ball idea. Good post!

The son and I did  canoe trip down the Wisconsin River and we used the cotton balls with vasiline to start all our fires. He likes the teepee method I prefer the log cabin method but the cotton balls were the trick.

Keep it coming, seems silly to re-learn how to build a fire at my age but I have to say that your technique looks very effective. Loving the vids and look forward to your spring release.

These are the things that I love teaching my sons, real life lessons.

Another trick I learned from my friend was take 4x4 gauze pads, peel them apart and soak them in petroleum jelly. Store them in     a water tight container until needed.  They burn like a candle wick and for several minutes. Works great to get a fire going in all conditions.

JJB

Very well done. Thanks for putting that together, looking forward to more episodes.
