I have a short draw, 26 inches and have recently gone down in weight.  I have hit the over 70 yr group and it is time to change. Got one longbow pulling 38 lbs and a recurve pulling 43 lbs at 26". How would you set up a Goldtip 15/35 or is there a better choice out there?  What are you using?  Thanks, Brian.

Hello Brian. Since no one else has replied I'll give it a shot. I don't have any experience with that light of poundage,but have had good results with Carbon Express Heritage shafts. They offer a 75 shaft that is .670 in spine and a 90 that is .588. I'm not really sure which one would be the best for you. If you got the 75 and cut them to your length they would stiffen up quite a bit and you may be able to get by with them? I got mine from Big Jim,he's pretty good at giving some advice. You might give him a call and tell him you are thinking about ordering some,and he might be able to give you some better advice.

How heavy do you want your arrow to be? Do you want to use only carbon or are other shaft materials an option ? How are your bow shelves cut? Before center, to center or past center? With this info, a more informative answer can be given.

I have a 26 inch draw and just got my Toelke Super Static recurve.  It's 45# @ 26 so pretty close in stats to your recurve.

I shot with McDave on Tuesday and he was shooting Victory VAP carbon arrows.  I got some to try and they are flyin real well for me.  I got the 500 spine cut to 28.25 and added the green insert and 75 grain field points.  The inserts weigh 49 grains.  I fletched them with 5 inch feathers.

So far they are flying real well.  I'm going to do some more more testing but I think I found the right arrows for my Toelke.

I have lots of low weight bows in the 35-42lb range. No arrows do better for more of my bows that Grizzly Stik Sitka's do.

Good information.  Thanks.  Should have provided more information. I am shooting a John McCullough Griffin and also his 59er recurve. I do not want a super lite arrow, they are great if you do everything correct at the same time-seldom happens with me.  I could see going with weight tubes if necessary.  Anyway I would like to see a 400 or so grain arrow.  Not bad for a short draw.

Hi Brian. I have several light weights - a 33# "D" longbow and several 42 - 44# r/d longbows, plus a 43# recurve.

I'm drawing 29", and have 1535s set at 30.5" with 145 gr points and I can shoot them out of all of the bows fairly well. I would imagine you would have to load them up a bit more - probably 175 gr, but they should fly pretty well from your bows.

I'm also shooting 1716s 29" with 125 up front and they also fly well.

My draw is longer...28"...but I have gone down in poundage this year and now shoot bows from 40#-45#.  The bow I shoot the most right now is 41#.  Because I have taken notes over years regarding arrow penetration/performance on my kills, I have found what works for me. So, here is my recipe:

I used both .500 and .600 spined arrows and build/tune a set for each bow to see what that bow seems to "like".  My 41# BW recurve likes a GT 35-55 cut to 29", 50 grain brass insert, 225 grain point. Hits like a hammer with good cast out to 25 yards.
My 45# Silvertip recurve likes a 29" Vapor 2000 (these shafts no longer available, I am told)with standard insert and 300 grain point.  
My suggestions are to go with high FOC, and an arrow with good weight...at least 10 GPP of bow weight and more if it flies well out of your set up.
Both of your bows will blow right through a deer with the right arrow/BH combo.  Plus, you body will love you for going to a low poundage set-up!
