So, I'm all set to go on a hog adventure at True South this weekend.  I stepped out back yesterday after work to get a few shots in.  The first two were good, but about 2 inches left.  The third shot split the nock, broke my string, and sent my caribow skipping across the patio.  I was waiting till after this hunt to get a new string, arrows, and retune.  I found one half of the string, but not the other. I'm guessing it's in orbit by now.

I will never ever plan on hunting with a bow without at least 2 backup strings again.

On another note, this was a skinny string.  Can't help but wonder if a few more strands would have saved it...

Sorry to hear that right before your hunt. Guess I am a little over cautious but I always shoot my bow with the 2 extra strings I keep in my pack. That way they are stretched have nocks in the right place and I can just put one on and check the brace height. You might check with A.S. or Oliverstacy and see if it would be possible to make you a string and overnight it to the address of where the outfitter is where you will be hunting. At least it's worth a try. Best wishes.

Yes sir, extra everything. I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.    :saywhat:

Live and learn. I change them religiously every year...before hunting season, so I have several back-ups.

Don't worry Gringol,you aren't the only one.

The bow is a little scuffed, but seems ok.

The worst part is that I know better.

Had to scramble today to get another bow ready to hunt.  I'm going to take some frustration out on them hogs.

Some of you build your own...I'm not that good so I buy mine, but always get 2 exactly alike...shoot them both in and put one in a zip lock in my archery vest. Period!

Incredible that your bow is ok... scuffs add character...

Best of luck on the hunt!

Went on a bear hunt last month . Had two strings with me . The first day of the hunt when we were getting ready to head out , grabbed my bow and saw that my string was cut about half way threw . I put on my backup string quickly and headed out . The rest of the hunt I was very uneasy about it and I will have at least four shot in and with me  from now on .   :banghead:

What timing for this post. Last night I was getting my equipment ready for a Saturday day hunt and notice my lower nock set moved ever so slightly. My serving broke right in between the two nock sets. They are both crazy glued in place so nothing has unraveled. I re-crazy glued inside the 2 nock sets and feel comfortable it will hold for this weekend.

I have 3 extra strings but not set up! Brand new in the zip lock bag. I'm going to set one up on another bow tomorrow to have it stretch this weekend.

I will have 2 back ups ready to go from now on.

Be careful, Crazy Glue/CA seeping into the string strands can cause them to break at that spot.
