Yesterday was the opening day for mississippi and this year I let my roommate talk me into traditional hunting and I've been hooked ever since we started shooting in the yard and now more so then ever. We've been practicing everyday for a few months coming into this season and it paid off for both of us yesterday afternoon my roommate Caleb shot a beautiful 8 point and I killed my first trad deer ever on my first day in the woods with my 1972 60in kodiac hunter 53#@28in. I'm probably the luckiest guy out there. Caleb had told me he shot a buck and I was pumped for him and hoping that meant the deer were up on their feet.  I had been in the woods up til lunch that morning and was back in the stand around 2:30 that evening and as of 6:15 hadn't seen anything but a pile of Mosquitos. As dark came near I heard something coming and sure enough two does popped out in the trail I was hunting. The first one came right in front of me at about 10 yards and I drew back and let it fly and I did exactly what I've been telling myself not to do I shot high and sailed it right over her back. she took two big hops and stopped and then the two came right back in front of me this time I was very mindful of my shot and stared right into her heart and let it go it went perfect I heard the arrow hit and she jumped and ran fifteen yards stood and then stumbled once and fell over! It was awesome to say I'm hooked is an understatement! Thanks for reading and all the help I've recieved it's really helped me along.
