Thought you guys might be interested:

I was in my tree stand this morning and around 7:30 I thought I heard a buck rubbing on a bush behind me. I slowly started to rise up and heard this from around 30 or 40 feet behind me (play the first sound) :   http://www.soundboard.com/sb/Lynx_rare_wild_cats

It was a bobcat that evidently came in behind me and caught my scent (and didn't like it). He paced back and forth several times and screamed at me six or eight times. It was surprising loud (my first thought was a cougar because it was so loud). I never caught sight of him because the foliage was too thick.
May your friends be as many as the promises you keep.

Wow! That is veeeery cool! I listened to the 1st choice on the list. Is that what you heard?

Even though the first choice of recordings is a lynx, that is exactly what I heard. I checked out other bobcat sounds and they were just soft growls and hisses.

Had the same thing happen several years ago.  I was sitting in a small depression, calling 'yotes.  I had heard the bobby down in the swamp below me, earlier.  I had forgot all about him.  I had just finisned a series of squeeks, when right behind me he opened up.  I jumped up and hollered Hey Cat!  Just wanted to make sure he knew I was bigger than the rabbit he'd heard.  Eyeball to eyeball, I don't know  who was scared the worst!  Needless to say I think both of us gave up hunting that evening!

That is awesome! It's experiences like that one that keep us going back to the woods!

"I screamed like a little girl"... that is too funny!

My nephew and I were scouting for turkeys at a nearby State Park. It was evening and we were heading out after roosting some birds when we heard an odd noise. It sounded like maybe an animal and fairly close.

Since then I have heard the snort and wheeze of a whitetail buck and as I recall it sounded like that. But in the spring?   :dunno:

We kept a close eye on our back trail the rest of the way out.

I know that feeling.  I was alone in Easter Oregon, bowhunting Elk years ago when I heard a similar cat call.

I had been "followed" for a 1/3 of a mile.  There was a present hush in the woods and when I took a defensive position against a tree I heard a similar sound to yours.

I like to think it was a monster Cougar however ;>)

A guy on our lease had a bobcat run through his oak tree not 6 feet in front of him. Bobcat was chasing a squirrel. He said he was lucky he didn't fall from his stand

Maybe this is why indians wore loin cloths.  Easier to remove in this kind of emergency.

that's not a lynx that's actually my wife searching the wilds looking for me again...

Never had a car do that but I had a black bear roar at me in the dark walking in to my stand. It was so damn scary! It sounded like a lions roar!
