Gday

just trying to fine tune some arrows.

they are GT trad 7595s and they are on the heavy side for the 59# slynx. (although stu's calculator now says they are under, due to being 30" with 375gr up front)

anyway, bareshafting a little stiff still and paper tuning a little bit stiff (under 1" tear)

the problem i still have is that about 6" before the nock, they are hitting the riser leaving a black mark on the cap wrap.

My question is: is there a chance that i am getting a false reading from the tuning and that they are in fact too weak?

Or alternatively are they really just too stiff and i need to drop back to 5575s?

cheers

I had some that were doing that, and they were too stiff. They would also start wearing on the side plate material excessively.

thanks guys

all signs say too stiff. I'm going to 5575s . I have them tuned already but they are a little light for me, 9gpp.

they still give compete pass throughs on the goats I'm hunting so I don't really need to go heavier anyways. I'll keep the 7595s for bigger game

too stiff!  Add more weight to the front or go with a lighter spine.

You sure it is hitting the riser and not the shelf?

I say probably too stiff also.

Try adding 50 to 75 grains to the point end to see if they are too stiff. That's the least expensive way to test this condition. If that gets rid of the problem then you can bare shaft to finalize the tune. If that makes a tuned arrow too heavy you at least can enter the arrow specs into the dynamic spine calculator to find the dynamic spine. Then you can develop proper weight arrows based on the spine calculator and get very close to the weight you want and the spine your bow wants.
Good luck.
