I picked up a Toelke Kestrel off of the classifieds about 3 weeks ago and between work and school, I hadn't had a chance to take her to the woods until tonight.
Was a good night! I climbed into the stand at about 6 and by 6:30 I had deer under me. A spotted fawn and a little 6 point. I was sitting there contemplating taking the 6 point but he was pretty poor looking so I was hesitant.

While I was mulling this over I heard pigs in the distance and heading my way. A bunch of 80-100 pounders with one, big boar that I've been seeing on my game cam for a few months now, but mostly at night. Anyway, The pigs chased the deer off and without hesitation I pulled back, and the next instant I saw bright fletching exactly were I was looking. I just love those shots that just "happen"!

The hit was good and I thought I heard this big boy go down but I waited for about 20 minutes, just in case. In the mean time the 6 point came back in. I was so very tempted but I'm sure glad I held off on this deer. I got down and walked about 75 yards to where I last heard the pig in the palmettos. Not a drop of blood to be found but in just a few minutes I found this big guy laying in the creek. He was upright and facing away from me so we had a tense couple of moments until I was able to slip up on him and make sure he was out for good. Here is how I found him.

He was only about a 100 feet from where I could get the mower and wagon to him but I liked to have never gotten him out of there! Rope around the snout and pulling him a foot at a time. Finally got him loaded up and to the cleaning shed. Almost 4 hours to get him hung up and into the cooler. I'm whooped! LOL

I really good shot showing the shield on a mature boar.

This Toelke Kestrel is a sweet little bow that seems to just shoot where ya look without much effort on my part. And apparently its got some mojo too!
