They were restin up from the allnighter drivin down while ago.

I took em a 4wheeler to use if they wanted to go separate directions.

Steve said they might invade the South property after a bit....  :D

Its going to be  a warm Morning down there today, Thunder storms may move in around 10.

As the day Progresses the chance fopr T storms and showers lessens.

Tonight will be 50 degrees with star filled skies, and tomorrow morning, no need to use a flashlight as stars will illuminate your foot falls.  There will be deer seen and Cardiac encounters to be had    ;)

Hey Kenny! What's the acorn situation this year?

Charlie J - that is a pretty good prediction!

It rained at 10, bro and I got the last stand put up at 10:30, quite wet, but should wash away any scent..

Off myself and the stands !  LOL

Charlie L - Acorns are not too plentiful, very dry this summer. Some trees have some, some not so much. They are dropping a bit, and deer are vacuuming them up as fast as they fall.

The milo on the S lease should turn into a deer magnet soon!
Stay sharp, Kenny.

So far we are having a fantastic hunt!  I came very close to closing the deal on a fat doe tonight...10 yard gimme shot off the ground... her yearling came thru my opening...but mama was smart and stayed back.... she started to get a tad uneasy...i had walked thru the same area 10 minutes before they showed and she was catching some scent..... i was at full draw waiting for her to take a few more steps and she turned around and stiffed legged out of there ..her yearling followed close behind.....She never knew where i was..my leafy suite worked well and blended into the brush pile where i was holed up .... There are unlimited spots to ground hunt on these farms and Kenny has been more than accomodating...We've spotted a whopper buck on the neigboring property and im hoping to see him pass thru shortly.... So far we are having a blast, relaxing , hunting , and just chatting with Kenny.......to add to the deer sightings we've seen turkey, quail, lots of squirrels, and a wise old owl... the coyotes have been sounding off at dark.

The acorns are real spotty.... there have been a few that have dropped and are getting ate up fairly quickly...We've come across a few whiteoaks that are loaded with acorns but have yet to drop...these trees will be deer magnets in the next couple weeks..... From what I can tell the deer are still eating in the soy beans....some have turned yellow...but the deer still seem to be feeding in them..... It rained quite abit today and cooled things off.... nice and clear tonight and should be a fantastic morning hunt tomorrow..... we will keep u all updated...!!

The old observation stand. Well I sat one tonight, been hunting for acorns the last couple of days and we're starting to find the big mature tree's aren't producing very well. No doubt a result of the near drought conditions this year. Under Kenny's advice I headed for a ladder stand in a big Pin Oak that straddled a travel corridor between two Milo fields on the South Farm. After getting settled in the evening hunt commenced. The stand faces north and is well concealed with large branches drooping down from it to the east and the travel corridor running east to west directly in front of the stand. From this perch you can see into the east and west fields which are planted in Milo. The wind was perfect coming out of the east so I would go undetected to anything but keen eyes in the wide open shooting lane. Within minutes a large doe appeared to the east about 40 yards away but her direction of travel had her crossing to the other side. As she disappeared behind the trees and into the east field I caught the movement of another deer that came out of the same location as the doe. It was a very respectable eight point and his direction of travel was taking him in the same direction as the doe. As he nearly disappeared, he stopped, turned and with the wind at his back started to head west directly in front of me. I locked in on him and made the decision he was a shooter and if he gave me a shot I'd take it. Slowly he closed the distance and at ten yards broadside directly in front of me I leaned forward and slowly started to draw. That's when it got real interesting. While I was burning a hole through my intended victim I didn't notice his three wingmen 15 yards to my right, but they noticed me. I was startled as I almost reach full draw by a loud snort by one of his unseen partners, definitely not conducive to good form or concentration! The string slipped from my fingers and the arrow was on its way. As close a miss as I've ever had as the arrow sailed just south of the bucks armpit by a fraction of an inch, followed by four bucks wanting to get out fast but not knowing where to go or how. It was almost comical watching them scamper around in close quarters trying to figure out what just happened but not sure what to do! No animals were harmed with the release of this arrow!

Charlie J, that's right. I asked Charlie Lamb if he had any advise prior to heading out here. His answer "for starters I'd listen to Kenny". Darn good advise for sure, you're going to love this place
