Anybody ever worry about bow-glare while ground hunting??

Nope! My Stalker stickbow has an anti-glare finish that comes standard.

I've been hunting with old Bear recurves for years. They're just too pretty to cover up.

Papa Bear never worried about glare,so I don't care!!!

Nope,take a look thru the woods and see how many natural things in the woods shine.

I used to but not any more. Movement, not glare, is what gets me busted almost 100% of the time.

I did for years.  Drab paint, tape, socks.  Tried it all.

Then I tried just unbuffed paste wax - deer did not seem to notice the difference and the bow looked and performed better.  I now just blot on paste wax and let it dry.  After the season I buff it shiney and forget about it until the next Fall.

If it was sunny and bright it might be an issue.  It's usually cloudy and in shade where I ground hunt so it's not a problem.  But I also ought to mention my bow back colors are medium brown, red elm or green.  Neutral type contrasts to a B&W sighted animal.

The 3 I hunt with are all non glare finish. I do think it matters on the ground.

Paste wax here too , String wax sometimes. Works great and just rub off when done.

Non glare finnish. I think it matters on some animals more than others.

You can tone down that glare with a nice satin finish. Many of my snake skin customers have requested it and are quite pleased with the finish. It involves 0000 steel wool, then coat with a good wax, either Pledge (which smells strong) or Johnson's Paste Wax and then buff. The smell will wear off with time.

i use a spray on finish called  dulcote  found in hobby stores, its clear and easily removed, really knocks the gloss off.  i dont like a glossy bow, i think if its hanging or the bow is at rest it may not be a issue but movement of the bow and the sunlight "flashing" off the finish would be, in my opinion

I don't hunt with a shiny bow. Paste Wax or limb skins are good.  If I care then I don't want something avoidable ruining a hunt. I'd do it only on 100% cloudy days.

I'm already stinky, clumsy, loud, and unstealthy!  Why add shiny?
