My wife canned 4 qts yesterday and I had some left over.
Thought I might try it.

I bet the yellow jackets will like it.

Half the fun of trad hunting is experimenting with homemade ideas. COVERUP (tradename) back in the 80's was a vanilla sweet smell I used alot on my boots and had 4 does bed with their noses in my tracks where I had just walked through to my stand moments before.(rubber burly boots) and they didn't even question it. Covering your total scent stream may be a differant thing. Went to fox urine on my boots since then and am satisfied.

I used to use thawed frozen Apple juice concentrate . It worked OK as an cover and helped bring deer in .

As long as there are apples some where near by.

Not to hijack the post but thinking of yellow jackets... My son (Tubbstru) shot a doe with his longbow the other day so I got up from a deep sleep (worked 11-7) to help him hang it. But first I walked to the edge of the woods to relieve myself. I now have a new motto LOOK BEFORE YOU PEE! Wizzed on a nest of 150 ground bees! Not my best moment and although my family could'nt hold back there smart jeers I have a new found respect for my tenderness if you get the idea. Whooee!

A friend of mine but his hunting cloths and a bunch of muskedines in a plastic bag and smished them all together then let his cloths dry. He was only in his stand for 5 minutes before he realized he was yellowjacket bait. That ended that afternoon hunt.If it is sweet don't put it on yourself.
Vanilla and anise oil works well for a cover scent and possibly an attractant. It smells sweet but sin't.

Yep fly's and bees will be all over you.

Pete Rickards lure company used to make a scent called Apple-X. It smelled like apple cider and the deer liked it. So I don't see why it wouldn't work.TonyZ

As an attractant, it could(and probably would) work, save for the bees, as mentioned.

But in my opinion, cover scents don't work as intended. Use apple cider and you'll just smell like a human with apple cider on him. Use skunk essence and you'll just smell like a human with skunk scent on him. Use cedar scent and......well, you get the picture.

If the wind ain't in your favor it doesn't make any difference what you have on you 'cause you're busted! Just my honest opinion and this has also been my experience.
