For several years now I have been using some polyester thread that I bought.  Tie a few inches on the top and bottom loop of my string and always know what the wind is doing around me.  

Problem is, I am out of the thread and nothing else seems to be as durable.  I tried the inner strands of 550 cord, works great but isn't as durable.  Tried dental floss (POOH brand...), picks up a ton of burrs.  

If I remember right (wouldn't be surprised if I am not, it was quite a few years ago...) it was Hunter's Specialties, but I could be wrong.  I is green and came on a little plastic flat spool.

What do you use?

Anybody know where to get another spool (or more) of that floss?  Was/ is it Hunters Specialties?

I use #4 twisted nylon serving thread. you can just cut the end and let it fray out or if you don't want it to fray just melt the end with a match.

I just use dental floss and replace occasionally/cheap and easy.

I use a thread from the craft store that kids use to make bracelets. I cord is about 6 strands. I cut off about a foot, separate the strands and use 1 strand. Very light stuff. I unscrew a broad head place the end of the string into the insert on my arrow and then screw back on the bh. The indicator is always in sight. I load 3 out of 6 arrows with indicators. Oh yeah, the thread comes in a ton of colors. I use floresent orange.

I always grab some milkweed pods (just got a couple this afternoon). I keep the seeds in a pill bottle with a hole in the top. I like using them because it not only shows the wind at my stand, but also how it's flowing down-wind from me.

Before that, I just used a light piece of sewing thread and tied on a light breast feather from the many that fall below the birds nests around the house. I wasn't looking for a 10-year guarantee on them.

Unwaxed dental floss

I will try using milkweed this year....I picked up a bunch last year and saved them.

In the past I've tied a small feather to floss and it worked well.

I always have milkweed pods in my pocket, a squeeze bottle of talc, and unwaxed dental floss on my bow string. They all serve their purpose.

I still prefer the powder in a bottle bought a good size bottle made by dead down wind. The powder is nice it goes along way so I can see if the wind is swirling or what the thermals are doing. I keep my cat whiskers full length to act like a wind indicator. There not as sensitive as thread though.
I've seen some guys with monofilament with a feather tied to the end.

If you have a fly fishing shop near you, get some Antron yarn. Durable and cheap, and I think it works better than floss, because after you tie it on, it separates into individual fibers that catch the slightest air movement.

I dont use a feather tie on the limb any more. but when i did i used center serving thread. it was strong and worked great.
I just use a lighter most of the time but have a powder bottle in my side pocket of my pack as well.

Dental floss tied to a down feather approx. 8"-10" length. Catches any breeze.

I use a piece of HALO serving. You can't hardly break it even if you try

Little trick...cut up strips of plastic bags...thin strips about an 8th on an inch 8 inches long, and tie them onto your bowstring toward the top...keep a few in your pack in case you tear one off....works great.

Get some cotton balls stuff them in film canister and cut an x on top   Pull some thru and there u have fake milk weed
