I'm currently shooting a center cut Holm Made recurve (Kodiak replica) 60", 46@28 and I'm drawing 28.5 with a clicker.  I'm shooting a 30.5" 2117 that fly slightly weak with 175 at 20 yards.  I have quite a few 125 grain broadheads I would like to use and was wondering which arrow I should choose with 125 grains up front.  I would like the new arrows to stay at 30.5 inches.  I thought a 2016 or 2018.

Any help appreciated.  Thanks.

Blackhawk

If you cut them to 29", then a 2016 would work.  At 30.5, go with the 2018.

BTW, why have 2" sticking out?

If you have or can bum a couple of each try both of them out.  Like Blackhawk said though, the 2016s at 29 inches should be fine.

Moon

Thanks guys.  I think I'll try the 2018's.

Moon, I shoot a Predator Hunter, 46@28. I draw 27.5 and shoot 2016s cut to 29.5 with 130 heads 125 + a 5 gr brass washer. I shoot split vision so the extra length help my to shorting my gap for aiming.

At your draw length I don't think you could possibly be under spined with a 2117 arrow at that draw length. 2117 is about right for a 60# recurve if left long.

I agree with bigbadjon, a 2117 is way too stiff for #46. With a 125gr broadhead a 1916 would be about right.

I`ve shot 2016s with 175 grains on a 29" arrow from 48 pound bows with great results.RC

When I shot aluminums last year I was shooting a 60" kodiak  50@28 (draw 28) I used 2016's and shot 145 grain BH's. I don't recall what length I ended up with to get them tuned but do know they flew like darts once I had it dialed in. I'm thinking you could get it pretty close with the 2016?

2016 is what i would use for his set up too.But he is wanting to use 125 gr broadheads and i think he will need a weighted broad head adapter unless his arrows are long. Most of the bows i use are in the same weight range as his and with only 125 up front 1916's are perfect. For hunting i think a 2016 with around 145-150 up front will penetrate better and should be tuned about right. That should be easy to do with his 125 heads by playing around with diffrent adapters.
