Ok, I am in the market for a new pop up as mine is getting a little long in the tooth.

So here I was minding my own business looking through craigslist. Nothing going on for campers. So I thought, lets do a search for recurves.

Up pops a new posting for a Martin Mamba. No pictures, so I e-mail the guy. he sends me these.

So I drive over to have a look. The guys says, oh wait. I forgot the hip quiver comes with it and I have some arrows if you want them too.

The bow is almost pristine. He tells me he lost the string. So I buy the bow, quiver, 6 Beaman Classic arrows at his asking price of 125.00

I get home and open the zipper pocket on the quiver and here is a string that never even had a nock on it AND a brand new Martin string in the package PLUS a really nice leather stringer, three packages of field points.

Sorry for droning on but I can't stop grinning...lol

Most folks have to use a mask and a    :saywhat:   gun to get a deal that good   :saywhat:

Some days you're the windshield and some days you're the bug.

I'd say you be the windshield for sure.

Congratulations!!

I could not take it. I had to string it up and go pop off a few rounds.

No wonder the guy gave up on archery. The nocks are so tight you can't hardly clip them on the string. Even with that I have to say it has some pretty good speed. The points are to light.

I have to play with the BH, it is awful loud right now.

I kind of feel like I took advantage of him but that was what he asked for it.

I sold an engine for super cheap once. Didn't want that old piece of Detroit melted down. Felt good sending it off to a good home.

I recently accuired a Super Diablo which was certainly LOUD. Limb Savers and string silencers made a world of difference! Congratulations on your buy.
Hmmmmm. I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I'm
not sure that what you heard is what I actually meant!

I'll give you $150 for that old loud bow ...

Mint is not the word. The darn thing is new. Typical rich kid, gated community. Probly got it for christmas, shot it once or twice and put it away.

I about got it dialed in I just need some 145 gr heads. Seems to like 7 5/8 BH

Great find Bruce, they are great shooters and yes 7.5-8"s is the right range. I have owned 3 Mamas over the years and I shot all mine at 8"s. Good for you on the find!! Not sure what spine the carbons are? Even if .500 spine unless full length that 145 won't be enough up front and even full length probably not enough unless you have a monster draw. Shawn

I just picked up a brand new never assembled or strung Dryad Orion ACS on the auction site for $680 shipped.  That's a sweet deal considering the limbs are $600 new.  I basically got a free $435 riser.  Not bad.  If dont like it I'll easily break even.

Kudos on your CL barnfind.

Wow, thanks Shawn

Yup, they are .500 at 29.5

So you think I will need the 175 gr ? Maybe I will just order the Test Kit from 3rivers. It will be useful going down the road.

Thank you for the help, you just saved me two hours of reading

Had a Mamba wish I didn't sell her now. She would be my backup bow. Great shooting and fast bow. I only needed silencers on the string to make it quiet.

Funny

The boss just saw it and said " You know the rule, to get something new you have to get rid of something else "

I guess one of my wheelie's will have to go to ArchTalk or the auction site unless I want to wake up getting clocked by a frying pan.
