OK, so i have just got a Howard Hill long bow put in the post, heading my way ,    :)

( So i dont even have 2 pennies to rub together,i now i should sell some of my bows, but i just dont have the will power,  :(
( have not told my parents yet, there going to kill me, now ive got another bow    :(

Ive got one of José Dominguez Bows from ,  Dick Wightman, I saw it on Dicks, Classified Ad Page on his Howard Hill Longbow men wedsite, ( a great guy to work with, and a great web site )

It is a  Cheetah Take Down, 68" 65lbs at 28"

Now i got my self a Hill Bow, i think that im going to have to go back to wood arrows,    :)
Im thinking about heading to Africa this summer, and want to make a really Tought, and heavy arrow,
What im thinking at the momnet, it that im going to have to be using HillBroad Heads,    :)    160grain, ( i think with out checking) im planning on using my feather cutter to make some nice, 5 1/2"  Banna Feathers, and will try and find the time to do my self nocks, ( with buff horn, instead of hard wood, )    :)    ( might even put some of those Trad Gang Logo full color faux snake skin arrow wraps, i kind of like that idea of them, pluss i love the snake skin, : )

ive never had much look with my wooden arrows, getting them to fly from my bow proply, so i thought i would ask here this time, ( as the Hillbows are not center shot, ive read that there even harder to get the right arrow for,, )

But in thinking of going for some thing like the, poplar or laminated Birch arrow shafts from 3 Rivers, but i wanted to see what you guys would recommend, as i now you guys have got a lot more experience than me    :)

ow, my draw is 28 1/2 - 29"

Just let me now what your thinking,

Many Thanks

James

A good wooden arrow would be Whispering Wind tapered hex shafts.

I hear ya on the mom thing, still 16, my dad and I cant buy any bows, guns, or dogs without her permission, my mom would kill me if I bought a bow behind her back!, I was invited by some friends who live in africa to go hunting with them this summer, I will probably use birch or spruce shafting out of a 50# bow

So guys I live with my dad. When he buys new toys.I buy new arrows.
I know hill bows they like . I think if you can get some one to send you 2 or 4 arrows that are 60-65 in 23/64 I would try them and see how they would fly. I am shooting a 66 pound hill and shooting 23/64 out of them. I shot an 80 # with 23/64 which fly great.
you just have to play around with it.

I have shoot HH for a long time.  I like to use hardwood shafts if I can get them (or make them myself).  For a decade I shoot a 67#@28" big five.  I used 70-75# hickory shafts and 160 grizzlies.  the arrows were cut 29" bop for my 28" draw.  that was back when I could actually draw a 70# bow 28".

I got good arrow flight.

Lately I have dropped down in draw weight.  I'm shooting a 50# and a 59# HH.  I have bought 100 spruce shaft in 55-60# and a 100 60-65#.  the raw uncut shafts weight about 380grs

You lucky guy,....that shoud be a very nice bow.
I have had my Cheetah 50#@28 her about 1 mounth here now and are very happy.
It's about tghe most beautiful bow I've ever seen, and also very nice to shoot.
I use 55-60 spine cedars 450 gr. going 175fps, not bad at all.

Hey James! I'm José, the guy who ordered that bow! Congratulations, it's a great bow. It's interesting to know that I used that bow in the US, now I'm in Argentina and the bow is in England!
Well, I used to shoot that bow with excellent accuracy with 29" 2219s and 175grs points if I remember. I made a "dead hog test" with that setup and I double lunged him with penetration to the feathers. We're talking about a 650 gr arrow more or less.
Hope you enjoy the bow.

Trad Man if you get in touch with Elite Arrows one of the sponsors he will be able to help you out.I shoot my Hill bows with 75-80 # tapered cedar or sitka spruce woods. My bows are 68" and 63-69#'s@ 29".I leave my arrows 31" because I have tendency to overdraw my bows by an inch or two.(depending on adrenalin)
  Enjoy the bow!!!!!
