They haven`t been around for two evenings because they can read your mind.

Go ahead and hunt them...don`t worry too much about the need to deal with the meat. They can tell when your attitude towards them changes and they just KNOW!

I'm sure it would be much healthier than KFC or chicken nuggets......I say take the breast out...grill it with some barbecue sauce and chow down.

I asked this question of several friends around here a couple of years ago. Only one person I knew had ever tried it, so I asked him if it was any good. He replied, "Tony, have you ever had to eat your words?" Of course, I said yes. "Kinda bitter wasn't it?" Again, yes. "Well there's a reason that they call eating your words 'Eating Crow,' it's bitter and not very pleasant." I took his word for it at the time, but I may just hafta check out the previously mentioned website and find out for myself. Be sure to update us if you get a chance and try it out. I'm really curious as to the answer as well.

Cooked one up in the early 70s....It bent the fork.Haven't tryed it since.

Make sure you know the laws concerning the taking of crows. Because they are related to the Magpie they are regulated according to federal migtatory bird laws.

I don't keep up with this sort of thing like I used to have to do.  However, before 2007 states had the option of:

1. Having no crow season but the ability to kill damage-causing crows year round.

2. Have a crow season with no depredation allowances outside the seasons.

We opted for the season in KY.

yep! Missouri has a crow season...nov.1st--march 3rd.

got to about 20 yds on one today.
shot at it twice.

The first shot was off a tad and startled the bird.
It sorta did a little hop/flap flap and landed about 5 ft from where it started.

The second arrow looked good but the bird decided enough was enough, hopped up and flew away before the arrow got to it.

...at least it was fun..lol

I tried eating a coot years ago when I first started duck hunting.  Can't recall how far I got in the process, but never tried it again.  Kind of a mix between the worst liver you ever eat and some stinky swamp bottom mud if I recall correctly.

I say shoot the crows if you can.  They are very smart and that makes them trouble.  They pray on other birds' nests and like steeling eggs from ducks, turkeys and other game birds.  They really like to bother turkeys.  That is way a crow call is so effective getting gobblers to sound off.  I have had them hunt me down while turkey calling in the spring.  Save an edible bird and shoot a crow.  Don't worry too much about eating it.

My cousin Joel will not kill anything without eating it. That being said one night around the camp fire I asked him what critters he would not kill and eat a 2nd time?! First word from his mouth... CROW! lol

Hmmm, I have only eaten proverbial crow.  But I reckon actual crow could be palatable with Dale's Steak marinade, slice of onion, slice of jalepeno, and wrapped tight in thick bacon.  Grill it up and eat it.  Why not?

McDave

Cook it up and feed it to the dog?

x2 - A crow will know - they are some wily birds.

How's it going up north BB :-)

Bonebuster

It`s going good Bob...We are now splitting our time between "up north" and "down south".

We bought another house and I started a new career because there are just no opportunities for our kids up there.

We still have the other house, but schools are better here and our oldest can live at home while in college.

Living and working in Brownstown...we are about twenty five minutes from Ohio..and you know what THAT means...  :D  ..I hope all is well with you!  :campfire:
