I am planning on attending the Stick Bow 3D shoot in Roseville, Ca and would like to shoot my Centaur Carbon bow.

Since its a longbow, I must use wood arrows.

My specs:

Bow- 60" 45# @28 Carbon limbs.  Shelf cut to center.  Centaur factory FF string.  Two wool puff silencers.

I draw 25 inches.  So at my draw length, I figure I'm pulling around 36 pounds.

Any suggestions on arrow length, point tp weight, etc would b appreciated.

Thanks!

Bill

Bill, try this search, in this forum, for a start:  wood arrows and high performance bows
That thread is very informative, and the search brings up other helpful threads as well.
There's a chart on arrowskp.com, and a good deal of info, which will also offer some good knowledge and advice.
Just something to tide you over till some experienced folks here start chiming in.
Watching this one myself, I shoot a glass Selway/Centaur also, and curious what others shoot.

Thanks!  I saw that thread and seems as if people recommend 10-15 pounds over actual.  That would mean a spine weight of about 45-50 or maybe 50-55.

I also sent an email to Jim at Centaur to see what he recommends.

I really do not have much experience with wood arrows and just don't want to end up with an expensive mistake.

My bow is same specs as yours, but glass, no carbon - seems to like a spine around 10 lbs higher than my draw weight. As usual, others find something other than that works for them.
At 27 & 1/2", I'm pulling about  43-44 lbs, and have been going with 50-55's, around 28&1/4", 125 grain points.

I have owned several and they like a stiff arrow for sure. I would agree with a 125 grain point 15#s over for sure. I would say a 50-55# spine cut to 28"s. If you want to cut it shorter like 27"s or better yet 26.5"s I would go with a 45-50# spine. Shawn

Shawn,

Is there an advantage going with a shorter arrow?

So Jim responded to my email, thanks Jim!  He recommended going 15-20 #'s over draw weight.  He estimated my weight to be 38#'s.  So 50-55# spine.  Then he said try different point weights to see which flew best.

Now I'm going to get some test arrows and see.
