Early dementia or just stupid?

You ever try to get ready to go into the woods and there seems to be so much crap to do before you can leave?

Get dressed and have the right underware and socks on. Right middle layer, and outer camo. Where are the gloves? Tab? My headware and mask? Camo eyes or not. Harness and rope that goes with it? Where are my boots. Packpack have license, tags, pen, landowner permission, and Lunch? Water bottle or pee bottle? Which is it?
Arm guard over outer jacket.
CHECK- ready to go. Get in the truck and head out.

Oops... Bow and arrows would be helpful.      :banghead:

Now I got to poop.             Undress. Its getting daylight!! This isn't going well.

LOL.....You actually described one of my "adventures"

Fattony77

Haha! happens to me every time I go out. Only "the urge" doesn't usually hit until I'm in the woods already! Did I bring the wet wipes or TP??????

Legolas

I may have an answer to this too much crap to get ready problem...

I am considering going "Ted Nugent when he totally loses it" and walk into the woods early season with only my bow and arrows and a pair of camo Crocs on and maybe- a thermocell.

No clothes just total commando.

Now that there would be a sight to behold up in my tree stand.

Twig and berries camo.

Organization is key.  You are not organized enough.  I keep all my gear in tubs in the truck even when hunting out back. I organize the night before for weather so I don't have to hunt around in the am. I get stuff in pockets and pack so small stuff just gets there with the big stuff. I keep only what I will take in the primary tub with bow and other items at hand.  Everything laid out goes out. A check list is handy and gets more so every year.

After that get to bed real early. Get up extra early.  Start out extra early.  Then I can come back to get what I forgot and go to the bathroom again. Most of the time the extra early give the body some time to get working before you head out, but it doesn't hurt to have the extra time to come back for something.

Legolas,
This is awesome! i needed a good laugh today and this was perfect! Story of my life and not just hunting. It seems my kids have the same bug as well. Everytime i get them bundled up and ready i get the "dad, I got to poop" line.

I have a day pack that usually has all the necessary things that might be forgotten, especially the TP which has many uses.

As I have gotten older (55) I have found that I have to be more organized. I go over a check list, lay out all my equipment and I have all my clothes in a large plastic bag with cedar boughs cut for the smell. I just can't think at 4 a.m. in the morning anymore.

Paul....you have emailed me a few time over the last couple of years, and my replies always bounced back...I don't know if you ever got the replies or not.

I think one was about MOABs....not sure what the other one was about.

Thanks for the post , I needed a good laugh . Even if I was laughing at myself and the issues of getting my manure together. I find doing a short local trip for the first couple outings helps . Getting up early and rummaging around allows things to develop and you can take care of business and be on your way. Happy Hunting , Ken
