What are your recommendations for a fairly large broadhead target?

Hey Irv!
 I've used a sandbox/bank backing a 3D target with the center shot out. Cheap and get use out of the 'trashed' target.
 Also made a very heavy cardboard, near full size moose target with the kill zone backed with thick closed cell foam. That target prepped me for a moose hunt and was passed on to friend before his moose hunt. Will try to get a pic of it up.

Rinehart are the best portables I've used, I've been shooting the same 18-1 for at least three years now.  I don't shoot it year round but for pre-season practice with broadheads it's held up great, much better than any others I've had.  The Rinoblock is the same material only bigger and square, it would probably last a long time.

The sand pit or a big pile of rock free dirt is about as good as it gets although sand is tough on broadheads.  I used to shoot into sand and kept a set of practice heads separate from my hunting heads.  I'd shoot the hunters a few times and sharpen them up, then just shoot the "pit heads" for practice.

I have a new Block where the layers are sealed inside very good so far! 2 years and at least 2000 shots of which a few hundred have been broadhead. I agree that it is hard to beat a nice sand box with sand mound backing! Shawn

I have one of these....large size.  You can cut them up in smaller pieces and use them at different yardages.  I've been shooting mine for over 2 years and still going strong.

18-1 is awesome took lots of broadheads and held up well for many years

I think sand is about the best, but wears on finishes.  Those blobs are great from what I have read on them.  Wish I could get one here without a big shipping cost.  18 in 1 is a great target, but I shoot one to pieces in quick order with broadheads particularly if I have shot it much with regular points.  The inside turns to crumbs after getting hit from all angles a lot.  As soon as the BH's cut the cover quite a bit they will split open.  I shoot three or more blades and they eat them up.  I do shoot my 18 in 1 with some BH's, but I try and not do it more than just a few shots here and there to check flight.  I think you want something else if you plan to regularly practice with BH's. The big layered block I had was probably the one that took the most shots of any  target I have had.

When you or some you know shoots out one of their 3D targets to where its beyond repair,  don't throw it out.  The last one I shot out,  I cut in 1/2 and had the entire rear rump section of dense 3D foam. I squared it up a little and set it up for my broadhead target.  Broadheads will eventually chew it up,  but I get extra use out of something that was headed to the trash.

My Rhinoblock is finally falling apart on the deer face sides in its third year...that is after shooting it a lot with broadheads...and the insert is still doing well..plus two more sides...I will likely just finish shooting it up and replace it next year...bought a cheap deer target to use for this hunting season

Nice to hear from you Bill. Hope things are going well in the Northeast.
I remember shooting at our outdoor club range, thru cardboard sillouettes  and into sand. It just so happens I have some sand left over from a project.
Time to get out the skidloader and find a spot to move the sandpile. Better make a habit to peek behind before shooting       to make sure none of the cats are on break there.
