What do you guys usually do after sharpening with KME once your broadheads are on your wood arrows?  I'm trying to find a nice, portable way to sharpen after my Grizzlies are glued on... I hate to remove them and then resharpen.  Will a few strokes with a Diamond stick work?  I know you can keep your arrows attached on the KME sharpener but I was hoping to leave that at home. Thanks for any input. V/R..

Maybe talk to Ron, he may have a touch up file, you could hit the heads with that would be compact and easy to use in the field.

I have a great file from Kustom King that I use, in fact its all I use to sharpen my heads!

I carry a 6" file and a jewel stick in the side pocket of my quiver. However since I have tried the accusharp I feel that is what I may be carrying this year. I don't think the accusharp will work on single bevels but 3 rivers carries a single bevel sharpener similar to the accusharp I think. If it works as good as the accusharp on double bevel heads it would be a nice easy way to touch up heads in the field.

KME knife sharpener. You'll be able to keep your angle that way.

Jewell stick For me, I shoot.3 blade VPA 175 grainers! Super easy to sharpen and I do it On The shaft! Thst said, contact Ron, no one bettet!! Shawn

TJ's right on....of course you'd have a few $$$ invested in your sharpening gear at that point. (having both KME kits!)   A diamond jewel stick works fantastic for touch ups in a pinch.  If you really fudge up your bevel,  it would need to be reset anyhow....so removal of the broadhead at that point wouldnt be unexpected.  I love the KME....but I also love the idea of not having to rely on it.  If I could get a razor edge with 2 items,  a file and jewel stick,  I would opt for that!  Cuz I can take those anywhere, anytime!  Its an art though for sure....Ive been practicing and getting much better  :cool:

Jewel stick, or just strop them on some cardboard or leather.  You're just touching up, right, not resharpening.

The perfect tool is the "Bevel Sharp" from Tuffhead , sharpen on one side strope on the other all in the size of a credit card. Sharpen from top of bevel to edge, flatten the other side to create a bead then sharpen bevel again, strope same way and your set. Problem is when you get bored on stand and decide to touch it up and look up and see your buck. It does happen, I'm just saying.

That's why I've gone to three blade or double bevel on my woodies.  And accusharp weighs nothing and touches up kme sharpened heads in a jiffy.

For quick, razor sharp edge, I now carry the RADA knife sharpner in my packs. Just pull the head through the wheels, razor edge. KME sharpened heads are dangerously sharp, especially when Ronnie does them. Then again...I'm not a big fan of single bevel heads...too old school I guess...   :rolleyes:    

KME knife sharpener. I shoot them first, pick the favorites for the hunt and then do the sharpening without removing the head. Sharp and ready to hunt and certain of their tune.

I have high confidence in my ability to get my heads sharp with the KME knife setup.  I can't duplicate the angles as well with anything hand held, so I no longer try.  I'm leaving in the morning for a 4 day hog hunt.....my KME kit is in my gear tote, and I have no problem resharpening heads while they're glued to the shafts.  It may be a bit awkward, but in a few strokes I'm confident in what those heads will do.

Gentleman, thanks for your responses. Great advice.  I agree with several where the bevel angle is hard to match like the KME.  I'll probably just carry it to camp with me and touch up as needed with arrow attached and strop on cardboard/leather for final strop. Thanks to all.
