I most have landed in a nest.
40 bites per foot and 20 around waist and pelvic region (yea)
any homemade or store bought stuff that works?
Slickhead

its been said before, PERMYTHRIN!
its the only thing I have found to really work the way you need it to work.

If I get them, I take a hot bath with some bleach in it.  Do this as soon after exposure as possible.

I have also taken bleach directly to them.  It was extreme but it was relief.

Some guys say "meat tenderizer"  helps relieve the itch. I used Absorbine Jr and think it worked somewhat.. For keeping them off of me for the last 25 years I have been using the permanone/peritherin sprays on my clothes..before that I used sulfur powder in a sock applied from the waist down, you just dust your bare skin.

Slickhead

Im ready to take a bath in clorox and absorbine jr!!!!!!!!!

Permythrin really works to keep them off. But that doesn't help after the fact.  You may try hitting your thumb with a hammer or something, just to take your mind off the chiggers for a while.   :dunno:

Once they get you there isn't any relief. It's all about pre-treatment.

There's anti-itch creams with hydrocortizone, 2%, that work kinda,Campho-Phenique, kinda too. Nasty buggers they are. Kinda why I'm not out at our range stumping right now is cause I'm not in the mood to bug spay up and go.
You would not guess the trouble I had to spell Campho-Phenique correctly since what I have here is generic.    :bigsmyl:   Hope it works for you. You are infested. Sleep well did ya? :~}}

I got some Epsom Salts Foot Bath. It may just be plain old Epsom Salts in a more expensive package - I don't know, but it brought some relief. After soaking in hot Epsom Salt water, dry off and apply a bunch of rubbing alcohol. It worked for me as well or better than anything else I've tried.

The Epsom salts and alcohol works. Follow it up with some cortisone ointment and a strong over the counter antihistamine pill. The itch is a histamine reaction and something that controls that inflamation helps a lot.

I'm real interested to hear how you feel tomorrow if you try ALL these home remedies this evening!   :dunno:   Surely the chiggers will be gone!

Good luck.....they sure make life miserable!

darin putman

clorox kills them faster than anything I ever used and the burn is worth the relief to me.Have also used white vinegar, kills them without nearly as much pain but may take an extra treatment. We get them bad down here

nothing helps really. a hot bath. a hot hair dryer on them will make it burn.... but it burns sooooo goood!!!!! its all about pre- treatment. i could not count all the bites i had on me this year. it looked like i had a chiggar thong on!!! im not joking. i was bit from head to toe. i had over 1,000 bites... probably closer to 2,000  the dr said it was the worst case of insect bites he has ever seen.

i  just thought my wife made horrible faces when she looked at me naked but this one toped them all!!!!

SKITCH

Scratching feels really good!!!!!   I get it bad one yeAr and used nail polish and calamine lotion...the pink stuff. Calamine helped a little. Scratching till you bleed feels the best....but with not so good results!!
