I found myself with some time on my hands in late August and started a collection of old Bears.  I got it in my head to get a bunch of the late 50's Bears and hunt with each of them for 2-3 years before moving on to the next.  I even sold off a few of my nice custom bows to fund what is quickly becoming an obsession.

 

From left to right: a 46# 1955 Cub, 54# '56 Grizzly, 51# '58 Grizz, 53# '59 Grizz, 48# '62 Grizz, 52# '57 Kodiak and a 53# '56 Kodiak Special.  All are 62" with the exception of the Kodiak (60") and the KSpecial (64").

There's also a 56# '58 Alaskan I showed pix of before and I'm STILL waiting (and waiting) for a 50# '59 Alaskan    :mad:    

So who sees something I'm missing?

What no Polar. I have a couple bear bows right in that range too. Great shooting bows. It's amazing to me how these bows have held up over the years.

Jamie, I am a longbow man!    That's what the 58 and 59 Alaskan are for.  They're dead-ringers for a few "modern" r/d hybrids.  As long as that 59 shows up I'll be a happy man... if'n it don't get here soon though I'm gonna need a tall tree and a short rope!    :mad:  
If I get out hunting this fall it'll be with my Horne Brushbow.  These all started arriving a few weeks before the season so I've refrained from shooting them too much.  

Shawn, the '59 Grizz is one of my favorites, though the '58 may have it beat for the shear coolness factor - the tips on the '58 are narrower than any longbow I've owned!

Vman, there's plenty of room for more on the new rack in my man cave     I'm keeping an eye out for a few more  

When does your season end Jeremy?

End of January  :D   Never if the crop damage permits are approved again for next year.

I'm sure I'll get out in the woods a few times, but right now a few things are more important to me - the little guy is growing fast and I don't get to see him during the week much anymore.

Maybe we can do a late season hunt and I could kidnap Doc on my way south.

Yep..Vermonster beat me to it. A couple of late model Super K's will round out your new obsession ,I mean collection, nicely.  Just for the record, those early 60's Grizzlys are among my favorite Bear bows.

Yep the old Polars look like Cubs and Griz. have a nice double shelf in the 50+ range.

That's the profile on the '58.  Even if you aren't a longbow fan, ya gotta admit, those are some nice lines

Brent, I'd love to go to Sweat this year (especially after last year's MESS) but with a new baby that's not in the cards.  Hopefully I'll be able to get an invite again after the Mrs. clears me for travel... or kicks me out!
