Are Brush Buttons worth it?

I hunt in small clearings located in mostly Red Brush.I would like to put a pair of buttons on my limb tip,but have been advised to expect a 10-12 fps lost in performance.Seems excessive to me?

Not really all that speed consious,but have the trajectery ingrained in my sub consious,and dont want to throw my hair covered computer a curve ball.

I do not think that 10 fps is right with most bows. I used them on my recurves for years, but I decided that I did not really need them. I could see that with some types of cover they could deflect certain weeds. The only time I think the brush buttons ever came in handy for me was when were were pheasant hunting. I catch in the neck when I am holding my bow above the weeds for long periods.

The first deer I shot was with a 45# bear grizzly. I was pulling well under the 45# with my draw length at the time. I had brush buttons and cat whisker silencers the deer has yet to complain about how slow the bow was. It only had about 7 seconds to do so anyways.

i have always used em on my recurves, i really dont think there is anywhere that kind of fps loss, i cant tell any diffrence just by my eye and bow tune either way... i do like them for deflecting brush and limbs and while in a stand, just hanging my bow from a bowhook or small limb..

for a recurve I like the stick tamers the best. They stickey tape to the limbs, work better than brush buttons plus you can hang your bow on them plus it quiets your bow better. 3 Rivers sells them for $16.75.

Not fond of them, plus the newer ones tend to get hard in the cold and then become noisy.

Don't believe I had that kind of speed loss when I used them. Don't use them anymore as they didn't seem to help alot and they definately increased the noise factor on my bows. Something that is quieter and could do somewhat the same function is a set of bow jax.

I tried them and promptly took them back off, not because of speed loss but because of noise as I remember, now I have a couple bows with BowJax string silencers and they work real well as brush buttons plus they dampen sound too.

I used them many years ago and didn't really care for them. The only things on my string is a nocking point and cat whiskers.

I found I was always fooling with them as they seemed to "creep" up the string to be touching the limb more than I liked. Seem to get along OK without them now.

Had some on a used bow I picked up once. They never stayed in place, so I took them off

I use them and think they are great.I walk right thru brush with them and bow stays clear of weeds.If they weren't on there my bow would catch on every weed or branch.

I've used them since around 73' and wouldn't hunt without them. They work well to keep brush from catching between the limbs and string. I use the old beige buttons, small size, and they also help quiet a bow, though the modern black ones can be noisy.
