Bear Heart

Went for a scouting trip today.  Who else has some scouting pics?

No pics but I have been out several times already, which is actually fewer than normal.  I have several spots lined up and I am gonna stay away until "the day".

Good luck

Never stopped. Been scouting since season ended.

Bear Heart

We had some serious land access changes in my state so I am burning some gas and boot leather.

We've been up once and basically all we did was eliminate a spot from the lineup.

Various bows, but if you see me shooting, it's probably a Toelke in my hand!

I'm in the woods year round..found first white oak acorns on the ground yesterday morning.

No pics but I have been in the woods several days a month for some time now. I have located several prime trails, bedding spots, and transition points. I have been keeping track. I scout while I am out chasing tree rats.

Beautiful country bearheart! No scouting for me but luckily I've got my hunting buddies scoping out a few spots for us in our hunting grounds on the other side of the country!
There is a place for all God's creatures....right next to the potatoes and gravy.

I have spent some time hunting those power line clear cuts.
Saw three blacktail does and two fawns yesterday. All bow range. Couple rabbits.  No bucks, bears, or elk.

Nice pics!

I hope to get out scouting this weekend. But while doing so I'll also have an archery antelope tag in my pocket, the season for which opens this Thursday (8/15).

I had a bear tag in my pocket just in case I had the chance.

Great pics.  Picked a couple new blind locations earlier in the year.  Gonna get out this weekend and put some final touches on them and check my others for some maintenance.  Will probably stay away then till open.

Sorry, no pics but I had a great day scouting one of my favorite spots yesterday which is a huge area of public land centered with a Tamarac swamp. The swamp is loaded with deer sign and I am excited. I have several more areas to do and this is about as fun as hunting!

Orion

Nope, not yet.  Our season opens in mid-September, but I don't get serious until late October.  We can only shoot one buck a season on our tags here.  One year, I shot a buck opening day.  It was the longest fall I ever spent not being able to bow hunt for deer after that.  We  get or can buy extra doe tags now, but in the area I hunt in the northern part of the state, there are very few does, or bucks for that matter, so I won't shoot a doe there.

Long story short, I try to stretch my season out as long as possible by holding out for a good buck.  I hunt birds (grouse) early in the season, and that is a good form of scouting as well, but I don't get serious until just before the rut .

Been at it for a month or so. Finding new beds, rubs, and trails. Just been raining too much to find a lot of sign. It's messed up the deer movement a little.
